Chandigarh: Strictly condemning the ban imposed by the BJP-led Central Government on the wearing of Kirpan on Amritdhari Sikh employees working at airports, Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker S. Kultar Singh Sandhawan has sought the intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to resolve this matter.
Through a press statement issued from here today. Sandhavan said that the central government’s ban on wearing religious symbols (symbols) of baptized Sikhs is a wrong decision, which should be withdrawn immediately. He said that the Central Civil Aviation Department also took necessary steps to withdraw this anti-Sikh decision.
The speaker said that Sikhs always believe in hard work and they are also firm in their religious beliefs. He said that India is a country full of different religions, races and castes. He said that in a country where the constitution gives religious freedom to every citizen, it is not a valid decision to ban every citizen from wearing a religious symbol or sign in that country.
S. Sandhwan said that the Sikhs have shown exceptional bravery in the freedom struggle of the country and have sacrificed their lives for the country and the country. He said that the current rulers of the same country are imposing restrictions on wearing religious symbols of Sikhs. He said that such decisions are direct interference in the religious affairs of Sikhs, which the central government should avoid.
Speaker The Sandhwas demanded that the central government withdraw the decision with immediate effect and allow the amritdhari Sikhs working at airports the freedom to wear the heritage religious symbol, the Kirpan.
