Fingerprint and iris scan not necessary for child Aadhaar

Baal Aadhaar Card or Blue Aadhaar Card is issued for children aged 5 years or less. It is similar to a regular Aadhaar card, in which the child’s biometric and demographic information is linked to a unique 12-digit identification number. However, due to the child’s young age, their fingerprints and iris scans are not taken for Baal Aadhaar.

Benefits of Blue Aadhar Card

If you get a Blue Aadhaar card made for your child, then there are many benefits of it. For example, Aadhaar card is required for many government welfare programs and scholarships. Blue Aadhaar can also be used for identity and address verification while applying for school admission or vaccination.

How to apply for Baal Aadhar Card 

You can apply for Baal Aadhar Card online from your home.

Step 1- For this, first go to the official UIDAI website (https://uidai.gov.in/).

Step 2- Then go to the ‘My Aadhaar’ section and click on ‘Book an Appointment’.

Step 3- Select the option of ‘New Aadhaar’ and enter your mobile number and captcha.

Step 4- Select the option of ‘Child (0-5 years)’ under ‘Relationship with Head of Family’.

Step 5 – After filling the necessary information about your child, book an appointment at your nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra.

Step 6 – On the day of appointment, you will have to go to the Aadhaar Seva Kendra where you have booked the appointment with the child’s birth certificate, a copy of the Aadhaar card of the child’s parents and the reference number.

Step 7 – After all the documents are verified, the child’s Aadhaar card will be linked by taking the biometric information of the parents.

Step 8- After completion of all the process, you will be given an acknowledgement number, with the help of which you can know the status of the application.
