Air India Vistara Merger: Air India has set up ‘touch points’ and kiosks (help desks) at airports to help the passengers of Vistara after its merger with it next week. An official said that additional resources have been deployed to ensure that Vistara passengers do not face any inconvenience and have a smooth experience. Air India and Vistara will merge on November 11.

When will the merger happen

Let us tell you that the merger process of Air India and Vistara is going to be completed on November 12. After this, Singapore Airlines will have a 25.1 percent stake in this new unit. Actually, Vistara is a joint venture of Tata Group and Singapore Airlines. After the merger of Vistara with Air India, the ‘Frequent Flyer’ program of the customers will be maintained through Vintage Maharaja.

Air India said in a statement, “Existing members of Club Vistara will be transferred to Air India’s ‘Flying Returns’ program. With this merger, ‘Flying Returns’ will also be transformed into a new avatar ‘Maharaja Club’.”

Vistara’s flight code will change

Reiterating that the experience provided by Vistara to customers will remain the same even after the merger, Air India said Vistara will be identified by a unique four-digit Air India Flight Code beginning with the number ‘2’.

“For example, ‘UK 955’ will become AI 2955 after November 12, which will help customers identify them at the time of booking,” the statement said.

Air India sets up help desks for passengers

An official familiar with the matter said that Air India has deployed additional resources at touch points in India. In the coming time, Vistara airport ticket offices and check-in terminals will be owned by Air India.

In the last few months, 2.70 lakh customers who had booked Vistara flights have moved to Air India and over 45 lakh Vistara Loyalty Programme members are being migrated to Air India’s Loyalty Programme.

There will be no change in route and timings

Apart from this, it said that the routes and timetables operated by Vistara aircraft will remain the same. Also, the airline’s in-flight experience will remain the same. There is concern in some circles whether Vistara passengers will continue to get the same services after the merger, as Air India, which is undergoing a transformation, has been facing some service related problems in recent times.
