Air India Slash Flights: Air India has decided to reduce the number of its flights on some international routes. According to media report, the company has decided to reduce the number of its flights to many countries like Oman, United Arab Emirates and Qatar (Air India Slashed Flights in International Routes). This decision has been taken due to shortage of crew members and shortage of planes.
Decision taken due to lack of flights
Air India has told on this matter that one day in a week, flights going and coming between Delhi to Muscat, Delhi to Dubai and Delhi to Abu Dhabi are being cancelled. The operation of these flights will be temporarily stopped from the end of April to May. On this matter, the company official told that Air India and Air India Express are re-arranging their network. Due to this, airlines have had to temporarily stop the operation of their flights on many routes.
Which routes will be affected
Air India has issued a circular to travel agents informing them that the airline will not operate its weekly flight between Delhi and Muscat from April 29 to May 27. At the same time, flights between Delhi and Doha will not be operated between 30 April to 28 May. Weekly flights between Delhi and Dubai will not be operated from May 2 to May 30. At the same time, the flight operating between Delhi and Abu Dhabi on Wednesday has also been closed between May 3 and May 31.
Flights to America also cut
Earlier in March, Air India CEO Campbell Wilson had informed that due to shortage of pilots and crew members, the number of flights on some US routes was being reduced. Significantly, Air India has been struggling with the shortage of pilots and crew members for a long time.
In June 2022, 1,500 crew members of the company had taken VRS. Since then, there has been a shortage of employees in the airlines. Airlines have recently ordered 470 new planes. In such a situation, the company is planning to hire on a large scale in the next few years, so that the shortage of both flights and staff can be removed.
