Tata Group-led airline Air India Express has added another flight to its domestic network. The airline on Sunday launched a daily flight from Kolkata to Sri Vijayapuram (Port Blair). According to PTI, the inaugural flight departed from Kolkata at 5.40 am, providing passengers a well-timed direct flight to the Andaman Islands. The airline said that from December 15, the airline will launch an additional daily flight on this route.
A total of 175 passengers flew in the inaugural flight
According to the news, officials of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) of Kolkata Airport gave this information in a post written on X. A total of 175 passengers were on board the inaugural flight. The post further wrote that this initiative is an important step towards increasing connectivity and promoting regional development in the aviation sector. The start of this flight will provide special convenience to tourists between the two cities.

37 percent increase in services
Kolkata holds immense importance for Air India Express as the airline continues to strengthen its presence in the region, the statement said. The airline has increased its services from Kolkata and Bagdogra by 37 per cent this winter season, offering over 230 weekly flights from these two cities. The airline on Sunday launched Bengaluru-Sri Vijayapuram flights, opened Jammu as a new destination and will launch Chennai-Sri Vijayapuram service on New Year’s Day.
Air India Express, a subsidiary of Air India and a part of the Tata Group, operates over 400 flights daily connecting 36 domestic and 15 international airports with a fleet of 90 aircraft.
