How to Check Aadhaar-PAN Card Link Status Online 

1. Go to the official website of Income Tax Department -incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal/
2. Open the Quick Links section and select Link Aadhaar Status
3. Enter your PAN and Aadhaar card number
4. Click on the option ‘View Link Aadhaar Status’
5. The screen will show you the PAN-Aadhaar link status

If your PAN card is linked with Aadhaar, the screen will show Linked otherwise, it will show the link to link both the cards.

How to Check Aadhaar-PAN Card Link Through SMS || How To Check Aadhaar-PAN Link Status Via SMS

1. Open the messaging app on your phone
2. Create a new message and type <UIDPAN <12 digit Aadhaar number><10 digit PAN number>
3. Send this message to 56161 or 567678
4. You will receive an SMS regarding update on Aadhaar-PAN link status on your registered mobile number.

What if you do not link Aadhaar-PAN?

1. Your PAN will be deactivated
2. ITR filing will not be possible
3. Pending returns will not be processed
4. Pending refunds cannot be issued
5. Pending action cannot be completed in case of defective return
6. Tax will be deducted at higher rate
IT department (Income Tax Department) has made it mandatory to link PAN and Aadhaar card to ease financial transactions. PAN card will be deactivated if both the documents are not linked. Therefore, those who have not yet linked PAN and Aadhaar must get it done.
