Aadhar Card: Now there will be no need to go through long processes to verify your identity. The central government said on Thursday that it has approved the integration of Aadhaar-enabled face authentication in the mobile apps of private entities, which will help in making it easier for customers to access services.
According to an official statement issued by the government, this process will be made available under the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) prescribed for Aadhaar authentication through the ‘Aadhaar Good Governance’ portal launched by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
Steps taken for good governance and ease of living: Government
The ‘Aadhaar Good Governance’ portal was launched by S Krishnan, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, in the presence of UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar and NIC Director General Indra Pal Singh Sethi. Krishnan said that the launch of this platform is expected to accelerate the process of adding more use cases in the field of good governance and ease of living.
According to the statement, this portal will act as a resource-rich guide and will provide detailed SOPs for application procedure and Aadhaar authentication to the entities seeking authentication. The facility of ensuring identification through face can also be integrated in the customer app of private entities, which will enable authentication anytime, anywhere.
The ministry has introduced this portal to streamline the approval process for Aadhaar authentication requests. This will follow the amendment restoring access to the unique identity verification mechanism for private entities. According to the official statement, the increased scope of Aadhaar authentication is expected to make life easier and facilitate hassle-free access to new services of your choice.
The rules were changed on 31 January
The online platform has come into effect after the Aadhaar authentication for Good Governance (Social Welfare, Innovation, Knowledge) Amendment Rules, 2025 under the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Act, 2016, the statement said. The government on January 31 notified an amendment to the Aadhaar Act to allow private entities to also use Aadhaar authentication to deliver their services.
The ministry said that the new amendment enables Aadhaar number holders to avail hassle-free services from many sectors including hospitality, healthcare, credit rating bureaus, e-commerce players, educational institutions and aggregator service providers. Apart from this, service providers will also find it helpful for many things including employee attendance, adding customers, e-KYC verification, exam registration etc.
