Aadhaar-based eKYC for LPG: Gas cylinders will also have Aadhaar based KYC, this is the deadline

Aadhaar-based eKYC for LPG: Now it is going to be difficult to get LPG on fake ID because it will be linked to Aadhaar. Oil marketing companies are now starting Aadhaar based eKYC to identify LPG customers.

Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri gave this information. For this, there is no need to go anywhere, but when the LPG cylinder is delivered at home, the person delivering it will verify it through an app. However, customers can also complete it by visiting their distributors as per their convenience. Neither the oil marketing companies nor the government has set any deadline to complete this process.

Why was this needed?

Oil marketing companies needed Aadhaar-based e-KYC because there are many people who take LPG in residential name but use it for commercial purposes. Domestic LPG cylinders are available at a cheaper price while commercial ones are more expensive. For example, a 19 kg commercial gas cylinder will cost Rs 1646 while a 14.2 kg domestic cylinder will cost Rs 803. Now through e-KYC, the government wants to ensure that this is stopped and the subsidy reaches the right people.

How will eKYC be done?

E-KYC can be done in three ways. First, go to the showroom of the nearest LPG distributor. Second, when the gas delivery person delivers the cylinder, he will do it through a mobile app. Third, eKYC can be done easily through the mobile app of oil companies. Apps for Bharat, Indane and HP will be available on Play Store.

How to do eKYC through mobile app

First of all, ensure that Aadhaar is linked to the mobile and the LPG account is active. Then go to the site of your LPG provider. Here, select the eKYC option and fill in the required details like LPG consumer number and Aadhaar number. You will receive an OTP, fill it. Then the oil marketing companies will verify this data and a confirmation message will come after the verification is complete.
