Indian Railway Rule: Every day lakhs of people travel by railways. For this reason, from time to time, Railways provides many facilities ranging from running special trains.
With time, Railway also changes its rules (Indian Railway Rule Change). Some of its rules already exist, but due to lack of information, passengers are not able to take advantage of it. Today, information is being given about one such Indian Railway Rule.
TTEs are deployed to stop people traveling without tickets and to help passengers in many cases during their journey. TTE checks the ticket of the passengers (TTE Check Train Ticket) and imposes a fine for not having the ticket or takes appropriate action. TTE has the right to go to all the bogies of the train, but it is not asked to go in the ladies reserved bogie.
Male TTE cannot investigate
According to the railway’s website erail.in, checking of coaches reserved for women should generally be done by women ticket collectors or examiners. Male Ticket Checking Officers or Traveling Ticket Examiners are not called for entry in “Ladies” compartments. Railway says that the male ticket checking officer can check the tickets of women only from the platform.
Without Ticket Travel Penalty
It is informed by the Railways that if any passenger is found traveling without a ticket, then the Ticket Checking Officer can take appropriate action. A fine is imposed by the Railways for traveling without a ticket. A fine of Rs 250 along with an amount equal to the minimum additional fee may be imposed at the station from where the passenger has started the journey or the station from where the train has departed or the checking point.
What happens if the fine is not paid
If a passenger does not pay the fine then TTE can take the help of RPF. For traveling without ticket and not paying the fine amount, a case of cheating can be prosecuted under section 137. Also you may have to go to jail.
