In fact, DMRC has contracted for the purchase of 312 passenger coaches for the fourth phase of metro development projects. This agreement has been signed with a manufacturing company through DMRC. It has been said on behalf of DMRC that an agreement has been signed with Alstom Transport India Limited for the purchase of these passenger coaches.

Work on these started in December 2019, but due to the restrictions related to the Corona epidemic, the construction works got delayed. These metro coaches will be used in the operation of 52 metro trains on the priority corridors of the fourth phase. Out of these, 234 coaches will be for trains running on Majlis Park-Maujpur and Janakpuri West-RK Ashram corridors.

Apart from this, 78 coaches will be used on the Tughlakabad-Aerocity corridor. DMRC said that all metro trains equipped with these coaches will be equipped with driverless facilities. These coaches will be manufactured at Alstom’s Sricity manufacturing plant adjacent to Chennai. Delhi Metro currently operates metro services on a 391 km long network which also includes the Noida-Greater Noida corridor and the Rapid Metro of Gurugram.
