After the hike in dearness allowance by the central government, many states had increased the DA. Now another state has given the good news of dearness allowance hike to the government employees. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday announced a 5 per cent hike in dearness allowance (DA) for state government employees, taking the overall dearness allowance to 33 per cent, according to an official.
According to the official, about 3.80 lakh employees of the state government will benefit from this hike. Chhattisgarh CM has informed on Twitter that the state government has decided to increase the DA for officers and employees by 5 percent. This increase will be considered effective from October 1 this month.
It is worth noting that the state government has already increased the DA by 6 percent. Employees were getting 28 per cent DA before 5 per cent hike , but now after 5 per cent hike, 33 per cent DA will be given. Calculating both these increases, the DA of the state employees has been increased by 11 percent under the Seventh Pay Commission. At the same time, under the 6th Pay Commission, some employees will get 201 percent DA, as against 189 percent at present.
According to the information, all the concerned departments, heads of revenue circles, divisional commissioners and collectors have received a circular from the state finance department on the hike in DA. According to the official, this hike will put an additional burden of Rs 930 crore annually on the exchequer.
According to an official letter of the Department of Expenditure dated October 12, 2022, the Dearness Allowance (DA) rate paid to employees of the Central Government and Central Autonomous Bodies has been increased to 15 per cent.
