Bank Strike: If you are planning to go to the bank next week, then be careful because the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has announced a two-day nationwide strike on March 24 and 25.

This may disrupt the services of both public and private banks across the country. This strike has been called after the negotiations with the Indian Banks Association, the organization of Indian banks, failed.

Which banks will be affected by this

According to media reports, SBI, PNB, BoB, ICICI and HDFC Bank have not given any official statement regarding this strike, but the effect of this strike can be seen in public sector, private sector and rural banks. Due to this, you may have to face disruptions in banking services for four days.

What is UFBU?

The United Forum of Bank Unions is an organization that includes a total of 9 major bank unions. It represents more than 8 lakh bank employees and officers. March 22 is also the fourth Saturday of the month, which is a holiday for all government and private banks. Banks will remain closed on March 23 as it is Sunday. At the same time, banks will remain closed on March 24 and 25 due to a two-day strike. Due to which banking services will be affected for four consecutive days.

Bank union demand

The demand of the United Forum of Bank Unions is to ensure adequate recruitment in the cadre as banks are facing a huge shortage of employees. This increases the workload even more. Bank unions demand that like government offices, the work schedule for banks should also be five days from Monday to Friday so that there is a work-life balance. Demand to ensure the safety of bank employees. Demand to fill the vacant staff and officer director posts in public sector banks. Demand to amend the Gratuity Act and increase the maximum limit to Rs 25 lakh.
