There is good news for passengers traveling by Vande Bharat Express. According to media reports, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has introduced this new facility for the convenience of passengers. Along with pre-booked food, this additional facility is now being provided through vendor trolleys, from which you can buy the food items of your choice. The Railway Board has formally approved this initiative.

Announcement will be made soon for other Vande Bharats too

After getting the green signal from the Railway Board, IRCTC has currently started it on the Gorakhpur route, but soon this facility will be started in all Vande Bharat trains running across the country. Till now, passengers had to pre-book breakfast and food at the time of ticket booking. Passengers who could not book food were dependent only on limited options like tea, coffee or instant snacks . But now food items can be easily purchased through trolley vendors during the journey.

Food will be available without pre-booking

According to IRCTC, the sale of packaged food has already started on the Gorakhpur-Lucknow-Prayagraj route. This is part of the larger mission of Indian Railways, which aims to provide the best and comfortable travel experience to passengers in Vande Bharat trains. Last month, the Railway Board also announced that passengers in Vande Bharat trains can now buy food during the journey, even if they have not opted for food at the time of ticket booking. According to the Railway Board, IRCTC has been allowed to resume food selling and service in Vande Bharat trains, so that all passengers can get better facilities during the journey.
