Revision in DA and DR is likely to be on the cabinet agenda. Of the two biannual hikes in DA and DR, one is usually announced in March, while the other is announced in October before Diwali.

DA may increase by 2%

Rupak Sarkar, President of Confederation of Central Government Employees and Workers, said, “The salary hike is expected to be announced in the next cabinet meeting. He said that the DA hike may be 2%. This year the hike is likely to be less than last year. DA was increased by 3% in October and 4% in March. Last year, with a 3% hike in October, DA increased to 53% of the basic pay. If DA is increased by 2%, it will become 55% of the basic pay.

The eighth pay commission was approved in January

The eighth pay commission was approved by the government in January this year. This will increase the salary of central employees. The commission is expected to be formally constituted soon, with the appointment of a chairman and at least 2 members. Although DA and DR will continue to be revised on a biannual basis, this will probably be the last revision before the commission begins consultations with various stakeholders.
