According to many media reports, the central government can announce dearness allowance (DA Hike 2025) for January 2025 before the festival of Holi. Let us tell you that this time Holi is falling on March 14. In such a situation, it is expected to be announced next week. Let us tell you that as per the standard set under the 7th Pay Commission, dearness allowance is increased twice a year. The first amendment comes into effect from January 1, while the second amendment comes into effect from July 1 of the same year. Which gives great relief to government employees and pensioners.

How is DA hike decided?

Let us tell you that the central government revises the salary for industrial workers on the basis of All India Consumer Price Index. The central government assesses inflation every 6 months and on this basis the increase in dearness allowance is announced. It is known that dearness allowance is effective from 1 January or 1 July. But it is often announced only after two or three months. For the dearness allowance hike of January 2025, the government will calculate on the basis of data of July-December 2024.

This time this much increase is expected

It is worth noting that the All India CPI-IW has fallen to 143.7 in December. CPI-IW indicates a 2 percent increase in DA for central government employees, after which it will increase by 7 percent to 55.98 percent. Let us tell you that earlier DA was increased in the month of October before Diwali. During this time the government had increased it by 3 percent, after which the dearness allowance of central employees increased from 50% to 53%.
