Eid holiday KMC’s education department has issued an order in this regard. According to the order issued, it has been said that this time there will be no holiday on Vishwakarma Puja falling on 17 September. Instead, there will be two holidays instead of one on Eid.

There has been a lot of uproar in Kolkata over this order. People are not happy with this decision, especially those who celebrate Vishwakarma Puja. This change also hurt religious sentiments, due to which many people opposed it.

Now Bengal’s main opposition party BJP has strongly objected to this order. BJP leader Jagannath Chatterjee has opposed this decision of Kolkata Municipality. He claimed that this decision of Kolkata Municipality is another attempt to turn West Bengal into Western Bangladesh.

Let us tell you that in the order issued by the Kolkata Municipal Corporation, it was clearly written that there will be no holiday for Vishwakarma Puja on 17 September 2025 because Eid ul Fitr holiday has been extended in place of this holiday. According to this order, Eid ul Fitr holiday was declared in the state on 31 March 2025 and 1 April 2025.
