Aadhaar Card Update: Aadhaar is an important identity document for Indian citizens, in which information may need to be updated from time to time. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has set some rules and limits for updating various details. Let us know how many times you can update which information in your Aadhaar card.

Name Updation Limit In Aadhaar Card

You can change the name in your Aadhaar card a maximum of two times in a lifetime. To change the name, you must submit proper documents, such as a government ID, passport, or other valid certificate.

Date of Birth Updation Limit In Aadhaar Card

Date of birth can be changed in Aadhaar only once. For this also you will have to submit valid documents, such as birth certificate or educational certificate.

Gender  Updation Limit In Aadhaar Card

Gender related information in the Aadhaar card can also be changed only once. For this, one has to go to the nearest Aadhaar enrolment centre with the required documents.

Address Updation Limit In Aadhaar Card

There is no limit on change of address. You can update the address in your Aadhaar card any number of times. For this, you can use UIDAI’s self-service portal (ssup.uidai.gov.in).

Mobile Number Updation Limit In Aadhaar card

UIDAI has not set any specific limit for updating the mobile number. You can change your mobile number as per your requirement. For this you will have to visit the nearest Aadhaar enrolment centre.

What to do in exceptional cases?

If you want to change the name, date of birth, or gender more than the prescribed limit, then you will have to contact the regional office of UIDAI. You will have to submit proper reasons and supporting documents. You can also contact through email at help@uidai.gov.in.

Update Process

Online mode: You can apply for change of address, name, date of birth, and gender online through UIDAI’s myAadhaar portal (https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/). For this, the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar must be active, as verification is done through OTP.

Offline mode: You can get biometric updates, mobile number updates, or other details changed by visiting the nearest Aadhaar enrolment centre. For this, you will have to visit the centre with the required documents.

Fees

As per the fees prescribed by UIDAI, ₹50 is charged for demographic updates (like name, address, date of birth) and ₹100 is charged for biometric updates.
