WhatsApp has become an important part of the lives of common people, but now it is going to take a big step in the field of digital payments. The day is not far when you will be able to pay your home electricity bill, mobile recharge, even LPG gas through WhatsApp. This may soon become a reality. This feature will not only make life easier but can also prove to be a threat to other payment platforms.
Recently, a report by Android Authority revealed that WhatsApp beta version 2.25.3.15 is likely to have a new feature. Under this, users can get the facility to pay various types of bills and utilities within WhatsApp itself. This can include electricity bills, mobile prepaid recharges, LPG gas payments, water bills, landline postpaid bills and even rent payments.
Till now users use UPI
WhatsApp already provides the facility of money transfer through UPI in India, but this new feature will make it even more widespread. With this, users will not have to depend on different payment apps and everything will be available on one platform. Considering the crores of WhatsApp users in India, this feature can bring a big change in the digital payments market. However, before launching this feature, some legal and technical hurdles will have to be overcome.
According to Android Authority, this feature is currently in the development phase and it may take some time to launch in the Indian market. But once this feature is launched, it will not only be convenient for users but also a great opportunity for WhatsApp to strengthen its hold in the digital payments market.
