Vande Bharat Sleeper Update: Indian Railways is operating Vande Bharat Chair Car on different routes across the country. Preparations are being made to run the sleeper version soon. Meanwhile, a new update has come out regarding the 16-coach Vande Bharat Sleeper train.
The trial of the semi-high speed train with sleeper coach has been completed. Now the green signal is awaited from RDSO, CRS for this. Actually, for the commercial operation of Sleeper Vande Bharat Sleeper Bharat, certification of ‘Research Designs and Standards Organization’ (RDSO) and approval of Commissioner, Railway Safety is required. Information about this was given by the Railway Board.
The long distance trial was successful on 15 January
In the information given by the Railway Board, it was told that the train had successfully completed the long distance trial on January 15. The board said in a statement, ‘Before India’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper train runs on the commercial route, RDSO will issue the final certificate after analyzing the trial.’ It said, ‘The Railway Safety Commissioner will evaluate the train at its maximum speed.’ According to the board, the dream of a world-level high-speed sleeper train has now become a reality, as the first Vande Bharat Sleeper train set with 16 coaches successfully completed the trial by RDSO for a distance of 540 km in the Mumbai-Ahmedabad section on January 15.
Comfortable travel at high speed of 180 kmph
The statement said that ‘Integral Coach Factory (Chennai) completed the manufacture of India’s first Vande Bharat sleeper train set on 17 December 2024. According to the Railway Board, the train was brought to Kota Division within a fortnight and was successfully trialled for short distances of 30 to 40 km for three consecutive days in the first week of last month. During this, the train provided a comfortable travel experience at a high speed of 180 kmph. The board said that long distance trials have also been successful. This is an important step for the Indian Railways, which is moving towards the introduction of high-speed trains in the country.
It is clear from this success of the railways that the Indian Railways is fully prepared to operate high-speed trains and soon the passengers will start experiencing fast and comfortable travel. Railways has made another important announcement. After the successful testing of the prototype, now the production of nine more Vande Bharat sleeper train sets is going to start. This production will take place between April 2025 and December 2025. This step will further strengthen India’s self-reliance in railway technology. After the success of Vande Bharat trains, the production of sleeper trains will be another major achievement for the Indian Railways.
