New Delhi. There is good news for central employees. Modi government has given another gift to central employees in the new year. The central government has issued an order allowing its employees to travel in Tejas, Vande Bharat and Humsafar Express trains under the Leave Travel Concession (LTC) scheme. Its purpose is to provide more convenient and faster travel options to the employees to visit their hometown or tourist place during holidays.

The order issued by the government states that employees can also use these premium trains apart from Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Duronto trains based on their eligibility. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has announced this decision after requests from many government offices and employees.

Tejas and Vande Bharat trains were not included in the scheme earlier

Central government employees get reimbursement of ticket cost for to and fro travel under the LTC scheme as per their rank and salary. Some premium trains like Rajdhani Express, Shatabdi and Duronto were already covered under the scheme, but the recently introduced Tejas and Vande Bharat trains were out of the scope of the scheme.

Terms of LTC scheme

The LTC scheme has a condition for employees that they can get reimbursement of ticket cost to hometown or any other destination in India in a period of 4 years. LTC scheme provides 2 options to government employees and their family members.

136 Vande Bharat trains running in the country

Let us tell you that in 2024, Indian Railways started 62 Vande Bharat trains. As of December 2024, a total of 136 Vande Bharat trains are in service. The railways aim to take delivery of 90 new Vande Bharat trains in 2025 and launch them on new routes.
