Saudi Arabia Work Visa Rules: New rules have been announced regarding the work visa given to Indian workers going to Saudi Arabia for jobs. Indian workers applying for work visa in Saudi Arabia will now have to get their professional and academic qualifications pre-verified. The new rules have come into effect from Tuesday, January 14. In this way, anyone applying for a work visa from today will have to apply under the new rules.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, more than 24 lakh Indians are living in Saudi Arabia. Lakhs of Indian citizens also work in other Gulf countries like UAE, Qatar, Oman and Kuwait. To work in these countries, both professionals and non-professionals have to obtain a work visa. Once the visa is obtained, workers can start their work. It has been easy for Indians to get a job in Gulf countries, especially for people with low skills.
Why were pre-verification rules introduced?
A proposal to implement pre-verification was brought in Saudi Arabia six months ago. The government wants to limit the number of Indian workers coming to the country. The reason for this is that there is a lack of training centers in the country to train people. In such a situation, training more people at a single center can deteriorate the quality of workers. Saudi Arabia is constantly improving the labor sector under Vision 2030, so that it becomes easier for foreigners to get jobs.
How to apply for Saudi Arabia work visa?
- Get a job offer: To get a job in Saudi Arabia, you must have a job offer from a company that is also sponsoring you.
- Get an invitation letter: The company providing the job provides an invitation letter, which is certified by the Saudi Foreign Ministry and the Saudi Chamber of Commerce.
- Prepare the necessary documents: Prepare the necessary documents like passport, filled visa application form, two passport size photos, signed employment contract, attested educational and professional certificates, medical certificate, police clearance certificate.
First of all, go to the Embassy or Consulate General of Saudi Arabia and submit the visa application form. While submitting the form, also attach all the necessary documents. Pay the visa application fee and wait for it to be received.
Usually it takes one to three weeks to get a visa. You can go to Saudi Arabia as soon as you get the visa. As soon as you reach the country, apply for Iqama i.e. residence permit within 90 days. With the receipt of Iqama, it becomes easier to live and work in the country.
