On Tuesday, January 14, banks are going to remain closed due to Makar Sankranti, Uttarayan Punyakaal, Pongal, Magh Sankranti, Magh Bihu, Hazrat Ali Jayanti. Banks are going to remain closed in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Gangtok, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Itanagar, Kanpur, Lucknow.
Makar Sankranti
Makar Sankranti is a major harvest festival in India, celebrated to mark the Sun’s entry into the zodiac Capricorn. This day is famous for sesame and jaggery dishes, kite flying and bathing in the Ganges. This festival marks the beginning of a new year and prosperity.
Uttarayan auspicious time
The importance of Uttarayan Punyakaal is due to the movement of the Sun towards the north, which brings about a change in the duration of day and night. It is considered extremely auspicious from a spiritual point of view and performing charity during this period, especially bathing in the Ganges, is extremely fruitful.
Pongal
