 There is a big news for air travelers. The Bureau of Civil Aviation (BCAS) has issued new rules. BCAS has recently amended the rules for hand baggage. If you do not follow these rules, you may have to pay a fine at the airport.

Under the new instructions, passengers are now allowed to carry only one hand bag or cabin bag inside the flight, whether the journey is domestic or international.

Apart from one hand bag, all other bags will be mandatory to be checked-in. Keeping in mind the security checks and increasing passenger numbers, BCAS and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) have made these rules stricter. Airlines have also revised their rules in accordance with this change.

Air India’s new rules

Air India has confirmed that under the new rules, premium economy and economy class passengers will be allowed to carry a maximum hand bag weighing 7 kg. At the same time, this limit has been fixed at 10 kg for business or first class passengers. The size of the bag should not exceed 40 cm (length), 20 cm (width) and 55 cm (height). Passengers will be charged an additional fee if the total dimensions of the bag exceed 115 cm. However, some special discounts will be given on tickets booked before May 2, 2024.

IndiGo Airlines Rules

According to IndiGo Airlines, passengers can only carry cabin bags weighing up to 7 kg, with an overall dimension not exceeding 115 cm. Apart from this, one personal bag such as a ladies bag or laptop bag is allowed, but its weight should not exceed 3 kg. Non-compliance with the rules may result in additional charges or fines.
