According to a report by ET, very soon a centrally heated sleeper train will be seen running on the tracks between the capital New Delhi and Srinagar. This train will travel from Delhi to Kashmir in 13 hours. During this time, this sleeper train will cross the snowy valleys of Kashmir as well as the iconic Chenab Bridge. According to the report, this train will not have second class sleeper coaches.

The 8-coach Vande Bharat has been designed to improve connectivity between Katra and Baramulla. It will have chair car seating arrangements. ET’s report quoted a senior railway official as saying that this train has been designed for the Katra-Baramulla route. The specialty of this train is that there is a provision of silicon heating pads for water tanks to protect from cold.

For the first time in Indian Railways, the front glass of the loco pilot has been designed with a special embedded heating element. The advantage of this technology will be that the pilot coach remains defrosted even at zero degree temperature. This train will complete the 246 km journey between Katra and Baramulla in just 3.5 hours. Whereas currently it takes about 10 hours to cover this distance by bus.

The official further said that it is expected that the trains will be inaugurated next month, which will bring new year happiness to the passengers.
