Saudi’s MHRSD has given two months grace period to foreign employees in legal proceedings

The government of Saudi Arabia has taken a big step for the foreign employees working there. Saudi’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD) has given foreign employees a grace period of two months from 1 December 2024 to 29 January 2025 in legal proceedings. Foreign employees who leave the job without permission can take advantage of this. Foreign employees can transfer their sponsorship online for two months.

According to Aaj TV report, MHRSD has provided Qiwa platform facility for foreign workers. By going to this platform, those employees who have registered ‘absence’ can take advantage of this 60-day period. They can transfer their sponsorship to the new employer. MHRSD has promoted this initiative by sending text messages directly to the affected employees. They are being given a chance to legalize their work and get a new job.

Why has Saudi provided this facility

The aim of this campaign of the Saudi government is to bring stability in the labor market. Also, to give employees a second chance to follow Saudi rules. The Qiwa platform is the center of this entire process. It works like a digital portal. It is claimed that this has made things easier for both employers and employees. It has also improved the work environment.

MHRSD has said that employees can easily get the certificate from their Qiwa account. To get the necessary documents related to employment, one has to log in to the platform. After this, one has to go to the services section and request the certificate. In this, the period of work and the name of the person receiving the certificate will have to be given. After this, the employer will confirm the information and the certificate will be received.

The Saudi government says that many foreign workers leave their jobs without permission. This causes problems for companies and destabilizes the labor market. This scheme is giving such employees an opportunity to work legally. They can find new work without any fear. The Qiwa platform makes this process easy.
