Direct flight services to Singapore and Dubai will soon start from Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh. Officials gave this information on Wednesday. Officials said that Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai met Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu at Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan in New Delhi on Wednesday. During this, they discussed strengthening the air connectivity service of the state and development of regional airports.
Flight service will also start for Patna and Ranchi
The Union Minister has agreed to start international air service from Swami Vivekanand Airport in Raipur soon. Along with this, the process of developing a cargo hub at Raipur Airport will also be started soon. Also, consent has been given to start air service to Patna and Ranchi from here.
Demand to make Raipur an international airport
He said that Chief Minister Sai demanded to give the status of international airport to Swami Vivekanand Airport of Raipur. Along with this, he said that there is a great possibility of international air service in Chhattisgarh. Sai informed that there is no big cargo facility center in the state at present and proposed to develop Raipur airport as a central cargo center.
For this, Chief Minister Sai has requested to complete the process of installing ‘Radio Navigation System’ DVOR as soon as possible. The Union Minister instructed the officials to start it immediately in view of the difficulties being faced in landing planes at night at Bilaspur airport.
There is a demand for direct flights from these cities as well
Officials said the chief minister also demanded to start new flights to connect Ambikapur airport with major cities like Raipur, Varanasi, Prayagraj and Ayodhya.
