Major stops on the Delhi to Srinagar route include Ambala Cantt, Ludhiana, Jammu Tawi and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra. The project will boost tourism, improve trade and improve connectivity between Jammu and Kashmir and the rest of the country.

The USBRL project, a challenging engineering feat, involves the construction of state-of-the-art bridges and tunnels through difficult terrain. This shows the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir. The milestone is expected to open up new opportunities for socio-economic development of the region, while also improving travel convenience for tourists, pilgrims and residents.

Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh while talking to Financial Express said, “There is not much time left to complete the 272 km long Kashmir rail link. Its 255 km stretch has already been commissioned, while the 17 km stretch between Katra and Reasi is expected to be completed by December 2024.
