The Bihar government has approved a 3 percent increase in dearness allowance (DA) for its employees and pensioners. This important decision was taken in the state cabinet meeting held on Thursday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Under this, the dearness allowance given to employees and pensioners will increase from 50 percent to 53 percent, which will provide financial relief to lakhs of government employees and pensioners. This increase will be effective from July 1, 2024.
The effect of increase in dearness allowance
Till now the state government employees and pensioners were getting 50 percent dearness allowance, but after this new decision it will increase to 53 percent. This means that the salary of government employees and pensioners will increase by 3 percent. This decision has been taken by the state government with the aim of reducing the impact of inflation and improving the lifestyle of the employees. Mainly, regular employees of the state, pensioners and all those working in government departments will benefit from this increase. This step will help in improving the financial health of the state government employees as well as increasing their purchasing power.
Increased percentage of DA will be effective from July 1, 2024
This increase will be effective from July 1, 2024. This means that from the month of July, the new salary and pension will start increasing by 3 percent in the account of employees and pensioners. This decision is expected to improve the standard of living of lakhs of employees and pensioners.
Chief Minister Home Purchase Scheme
Another important scheme was approved in this meeting, which has been called “Chief Minister Home Purchase Scheme”. Under this scheme, the state government will provide financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh to each landless family to purchase their land. This scheme is especially for those families who do not currently own land and who do not have any ownership of agricultural or residential land. This scheme will provide one-time financial assistance to these landless families, under which they will be able to buy their land. The aim of this initiative is to make the landless families of the state self-reliant and improve their socio-economic conditions.
Approval for maintenance and upgradation of rural roads
In the cabinet meeting, the state government has also taken important decisions regarding road construction and maintenance in rural areas. A new scheme has been approved for those rural roads whose maintenance and upgradation contract has expired after construction by the contractors. This step has been taken to improve the condition of road network in rural areas and to further improve rural life.
Development of tourist facilities at Punaura Dham in Sitamarhi district
Apart from this, a major decision was also taken for the development of tourist facilities and infrastructure near the Janaki temple located at Punaura Dham in Sitamarhi district in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. 50.50 acres of land will be acquired under this project, and an approval of Rs 120.58 crore has been provided for this. The project will create modern facilities for tourists in the area, which will boost tourism and also benefit the local economy. Along with this, local people will also get new employment opportunities. This step is in line with the state government’s policy to promote tourism.
These decisions taken by the Bihar government have brought a relief to the employees and pensioners of the state. The increase of 3 percent in dearness allowance will improve the financial condition of lakhs of employees. At the same time, the Chief Minister’s Grihasthal Purchase Scheme is helping landless families to buy land, which will strengthen their socio-economic condition.
A plan has also been made for the maintenance and upgradation of rural roads, which will improve rural life. Apart from this, the development of tourism facilities at Punaura Dham in Sitamarhi district will not only boost tourism but will also improve the local economy.
