How to apply for new voter ID card: Sometimes Lok Sabha elections, sometimes assembly elections, sometimes municipal elections – elections are held in some state or the other every year in the country.
To vote in any election, you must be at least 18 years of age and your name must be in the voter list. If your name is not in the voter list, you cannot vote. After your name is registered in the voter list, you also get a voter ID card, through which you can vote in the elections.

Follow these steps to apply for voter card
- Go to the official website of the Election Commission https://voters.eci.gov.in/ and click on Electors.
- If you have an account on ECI, log in by entering your mobile number, password and captcha or Sign Up to create a new account and then log in.
- Click on Fill Form 6.
- Select your state, district and assembly constituency and enter your details correctly like name, father/husband/wife name, complete home address, Aadhaar number etc.
- Upload self attested Aadhaar card photo for proof of identity and address.
- Enter the captcha code and click on Preview & Submit.
- After clicking on Submit, click on Yes in the pop-up on the screen.
- The application will be submitted once you click on Yes.
Voter card will be made a few days after the verification is complete
After the application is submitted, you will get a reference number. Save this reference number somewhere, with the help of this number you will be able to know the status of your application later. Apart from this, you can also download the acknowledgement slip by clicking on Download Acknowledgement. Let us tell you that after submitting the application, your application will be verified at different levels. A few days after the verification is completed, your voter ID card will be generated online and a few days after that the voter ID card will be sent to your address.
