Indians will now be able to travel to Russia without a visa till 2025. India and Russia plan to ease travel norms by the spring of 2025. The move is aimed at increasing the number of tourists travelling from India to Russia.
The report quoted Evgeny Kozlov, chairman of the Moscow City Tourism Committee, as saying that it is anticipated that thanks to this agreement, which is still under development, the number of travellers from India visiting the Russian capital will increase significantly.
Let us tell you that this has been mentioned in the report of Economic Times .
Russia and India in June negotiated a bilateral agreement on visa restrictions and collectively planned to launch visa-free group tourist exchanges, newswire PTI reported in May. From August 1, 2023, Indians travelling to Russia can avail of an e-visa, which takes about four days to issue.
India was among the top five countries issuing the most e-visas in 2023. ET reported that 9,500 e-visas were issued to travellers from India, accounting for 6 per cent of the total e-visas issued by Russia, quoting Kozlov.
Let us tell you that in the first half of 2024, 28,500 Indian travelers visited the Russian capital, which is 1.5 times more than the same period last year.
