Travelling from Bengaluru, known as India’s ‘Silicon Valley’, to London is going to become easier. In fact, Air India, an Indian airline owned by Tata Group, has announced that it will start daily non-stop services between Bengaluru and London Heathrow from October 27.
This move will help connect London Heathrow to all three hubs of Air India in India. Booking has started for the new flights.
The new flights will replace Air India’s currently operating Bengaluru-London Gatwick route and the frequency between Bengaluru and London will be increased from 5 to 7 times a week. According to an Air India statement, the non-stop service will be operated using Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft. It will have 18 flat beds in business class and 238 seats in economy class. This will increase the passenger capacity at London Heathrow by 3,584 seats every week.
31 flights a week from Delhi and Mumbai to London Heathrow
Air India currently operates 31 flights a week from Delhi and Mumbai to London Heathrow. Air India said it will continue to operate 12 flights a week from four cities – Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Goa and Kochi – to London Gatwick.
Vistara and Air India merger
Earlier this month, Air India had said that Vistara flights will start using the flight code ‘AI2’ after the merger of the two airlines next month. The airline said that the Vistara experience will remain the same despite the integration on November 12. The merger includes Vistara and Air India, joint ventures between Tata Group and Singapore Airlines.
