Metro Timing Change: DMRC Changed Sunday First Metro Timing Due To The Half Marathon In Delhi

DMRC News: Metro services will start at 3:15 am on Sunday for the Delhi Half Marathon. Metro will be available on all lines except the Airport Express Line and the Grey Line. People have been requested to use the metro as there is limited parking facility at the venue.

For the convenience of the people participating in the Delhi Half Marathon, the service of Delhi Metro will start much before the scheduled time on Sunday, so that people do not face any problem in reaching Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and Sansad Marg. Since parking arrangements around the venue are very limited and there will be a lot of crowd, people have been appealed to reach the starting point of the marathon by metro instead of private vehicles.

The first metro will run at 3.15 am

According to the information received from DMRC, except for the Airport Metro Line and the Grey Line of the Metro between Dhansa Bus Stand and Dwarka, the Metro will start running from the terminal stations of all other lines from 3:15 am on Sunday. During this time, trains will be available at a frequency of 15 minutes from 3:15 am to 4:00 am and at a frequency of 20 minutes from 4 am to 6 am. From 6 am, trains will start running on all lines as per the regular Sunday timing. Since most of the people participating in the marathon have to reach the stadium by 4-4:30 pm, keeping this in mind, a frequency of 15 minutes has been kept till 4 pm, so that people do not have to wait long for the train.

Volunteers will also be deployed at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Jor Bagh, Janpath, Jangpura and Rajiv Chowk metro stations to assist the organizers and participants. The organizers themselves will bear the cost of metro travel for the people participating in the marathon. For this, DMRC has provided tickets with QR code with a fixed fare amount to the organizers.

The metro ride from home to the venue will be free for all the runners. For this, they will have to show the wrist band given by the organizers at the entry gate of the metro station. All the runners have been advised to collect their QR code wrist band and bib from the organizers in advance.
