BSNL 5G and 4G Service Launch Date : BSNL customers are eagerly waiting for the arrival of 4G and 5G services. The government has announced the launch date of BSNL’s 4G and 5G services.

Government telecom company BSNL will complete the implementation of the country-developed 4G technology through one lakh base stations by May next year. Giving this information on Monday, Union Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that the company will then move to 5G network by June 2025.

BSNL will have 5G by June 2025

He said at the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum that India followed the world’s footsteps in 4G and is keeping pace with the world in 5G. It will also lead the world in 6G technology. The minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is very clear that the government company will not use anyone else’s equipment. Scindia said that now we have a main and a radio access network, which is fully functional. We have a plan of one lakh sites by April-May next year. We have started 38,300 sites till yesterday. He said that we are going to start our own 4G network, which will move to 5G by June 2025. We will be the sixth country in the world to do so.

BSNL is using 4G technology developed by a joint venture between state-owned C-DoT and domestic IT company TCS. Scindia said India implemented the fastest 4G to 5G technology in the world with the installation of 4.5 lakh towers in 22 months and the service is available to 80 percent of the country’s population. For the launch of BSNL 5G services, existing sites will be slightly modified and their software will be upgraded.

Target to add so many customers by the year 2025

BSNL aims to have 25% of its subscribers by the end of 2025. On August 6, BSNL announced that it will introduce ‘Over-the-Air’ (OTA) and Universal SIM (USIM) platforms that work on 4G and 5G. This will allow customers to choose their mobile number as well as change SIMs without geographical restrictions. BSNL is a public sector company owned by the Government of India.
