There is a great news for liquor lovers. Chandrababu Naidu government of Andhra Pradesh has given a big gift to liquor lovers. The government has decided to cut the prices of liquor, due to which liquor will now be available at cheaper rates.
Let us tell you that the government’s one nation-one tax policy is not applicable on liquor. This is the reason why the taxes imposed on liquor are not the same across the country.
Key points of the decision:
Reduction in liquor prices: Reduction in liquor prices has been announced, due to which people will now be able to buy liquor of different brands at lower prices.
Government’s objective: The main objective of this decision is to control the sale of illegal liquor and increase the state’s revenue.
Social perspective: The government believes that low prices will curb illegal smuggling of liquor and people will buy liquor only from government-controlled shops.
Let us tell you that the new liquor policy of the state was approved in the state cabinet meeting held in Amaravati under the chairmanship of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. Under this new policy, the prices of liquor have been reduced drastically, so that now people will be able to buy any brand of liquor for just Rs 99. This rule will come into effect from October 1, 2024.

Key points of the new liquor policy:
Price cut: 180 ml liquor of all brands will now be available for just Rs 99.
Increase in revenue: The government hopes that this new policy will increase the state’s revenue by about Rs 2,000 crore.
Quality and affordability: The new policy has a special focus on quality, quantity and affordability so that consumers can get better products at affordable rates.
Licensing Process:
Application Fee: A non-refundable application fee of Rs 2 lakh is charged for obtaining the license.
License fee : Four slabs have been fixed for the license, ranging from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 85 lakh.
Premium Shops: 15 premium liquor shops will be opened in the state, which will be licensed for 5 years.
Government’s expectations:
Chandrababu Naidu government believes that this new liquor policy will not only increase the state’s revenue but will also control the sale of illicit liquor.
