The central government has issued strict instructions to government employees who reach office late and leave early. The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions has issued a circular. It has been said that all government employees should mark their attendance in the Aadhaar enabled biometric attendance system. It is worth noting that many employees were not marking their attendance in AEBAS. Also, some employees were coming late every day. The ministry also advocated the use of mobile phone based face authentication system. Apart from this, live location and geo-tagging were also talked about.

Action against those who do not use AEBAS

The circular issued by the Personnel Ministry said that strict action can be taken against employees who do not use AEBAS. The ministry has asked all central government departments to ensure that employees mark their attendance on the Aadhaar enabled biometric attendance system without fail. The ministry said that the departments will download the report on the portal and identify those employees who do not mark attendance.

Half CL will be cut

The ministry said in the circular, “Half a day’s CL should be deducted for each day’s delay. But not more than twice a month for delay up to 1 hour. If there are valid reasons for coming late to office, it can also be condoned by the competent authority.” It said that disciplinary action can be initiated against government employees who habitually come late.
