BJP bets on Ram of Ramayana in Meerut
Meerut is also included in the second phase of voting. Arun Govil’s reputation is at stake on this seat. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the ruling BJP had won seven of these eight seats, while the Amroha seat went to the BSP. Last Friday, around 65.5 per cent voting was recorded in the first phase of elections held in seven phases for 102 seats in 21 states and union territories. The election campaign for the second phase ended at 6 pm on Wednesday evening. For this phase, leaders of all major political parties held several public meetings in favor of the candidates of their respective parties and alliances. There are a total of 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh and voting will be held in all seven phases in this state.
