The Constitution of India has given equal rights and the right to live a just life to all the citizens of the country. But, sometimes due to lack of information, a person commits a mistake and regrets it when he gets caught in the clutches of the law. Today we are going to tell you about one such law,

which is violated by more or less everyone or the people living around them. However, most people commit such mistakes due to lack of information. Like gold, silver and money, a limit has also been set for holding land. If you acquire more land than a certain limit, then legal action is also possible against you.

Let us tell you that in India there is no law regarding the limit up to which agricultural land can be kept. But, every state in the country has set a certain limit for holding land. Therefore, it is not that you can buy 100 acres or 1000 acres of land and keep it. But, the maximum limit for purchasing land in India varies from state to state. There is no uniform law for owning land in the entire country.

Is the land limit fixed in India?

After abolishing the Zamindari system in India, the central government gave this right to the state governments. In the country, a person cannot own as much land as he wants. The limit for purchasing land in India has been decided according to the geographical location of different states. Every state has set a limit for cultivable land. There is no uniform law for this in the entire country.

When did the law come

The Land Amendment Act 1954 was enacted to end the Zamindari system in the country. After the coming of this Act, there is a rule for each state to have separate land. In Kerala, under the Land Amendment Act 1963, an unmarried person can buy land up to 7.5 acres only. At the same time, a family of 5 members can buy up to 15 acres of land. Cultivable land in Maharashtra will be bought only by those who are already in cultivation. The maximum limit here is 54 acres. A maximum of 24.5 acres of land can be purchased in West Bengal. At the same time, in Bihar you can buy agricultural land up to 15 acres.

Why different laws in every state

32 acres of land can be purchased in Himachal Pradesh. In Karnataka also you can buy 54 acres of land and here also the rule of Maharashtra is applicable. In Uttar Pradesh, a person can buy a maximum of 12.5 acres of cultivable land. Every state in the country has been given the law to create land because their geographical location is different. Local residents, tribal land, Lal Dora land, many types of land are with the government, over which the state governments have been given rights.

If we talk about neighboring country Pakistan, there is a provision for keeping land in the Property Inheritance Act, but there too, like India, there are different rules for every province. Same is the situation with Bangladesh also. Even in Bangladesh there is no fixed law regarding ownership of land. The laws passed by the British are still applicable in modified form in all three countries. Overall, in India, if you own more land than the prescribed limit, you may have to go to jail.
