Due to the new rules, it will now be easier than before to update demographic data like name, address etc. in Aadhaar Card. The new rules provide for two ways to update information in the central identity data. You can complete it through online website or by visiting the enrollment centre.

UIDAI made these changes for Aadhaar card

According to the new rules of UIDAI, now Aadhar card holders can easily update information through online or offline mode. To update information in the Central Identities Data Repository (CIDR), you can update it by visiting the Aadhaar Service Center or through the mobile application and UIDAI website.

Actually, in the old rules, the option of upgradation of address was provided only in online mode. To upgrade other details you had to go to the Aadhaar centre. That means now you can update both mobile number and address online. There is also a possibility in future that the mobile number can also be updated online (Mobile Number Online Update).

New form for nomination

The existing form for enrollment for Aadhaar and updating Aadhaar details has been replaced with the new form. The new Form 1 will be used for Aadhaar enrollment for resident individuals aged 18 years and above and NRIs. Persons belonging to the same category will use the same form to update information. If you already have an Aadhar card, you can use Form 1 to update other details.

Whereas NRIs who have an address outside India. Form 2 will be used for enrollment and updates for them. While NRIs with Indian address can use Form 3, whose age is between 5 years and 18 years. Similarly, Form 4 can be used by children of NRIs with foreign addresses. Forms 5,6,7,8 and 9 have been issued for different categories.
