7th pay commission latest news: Central employees are waiting for Dearness Allowance (DA) for the first half of the new year i.e. January-June period. Meanwhile, the government of West Bengal has increased the allowances of its employees from January 1, 2024. Although West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had announced the DA increase in the month of December itself, but now the government has issued a notification.

how much is the allowance

In the month of December, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had said – I announce that the DA of all 14 lakh employees of the state government, teaching and non-teaching staff of all schools, colleges and universities, employees of all government undertakings and pensioners will be increased by 4 percent. . Mamata Banerjee had said that her government will have to bear an additional expenditure of Rs 2,400 crore for the DA increase.

Let us tell you that in West Bengal, employees used to get 6 percent dearness allowance earlier, which will become 10 percent after the new increase. The difference between West Bengal employees as compared to central employees remains 36 percent. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has already made it clear that DA is not mandatory for us, but optional. We are making this increase keeping in mind the well-being of the employees.

Good news to central employees till March

If everything goes well then central employees will get good news on allowances by the month of March. According to media reports, dearness allowance may increase by 4 percent for the first half of the year. If the allowance increases even by 4 percent, then the allowance of central employees will increase from 46 percent to 50 percent. As soon as the allowance of central employees is 50 percent or more, the House Rent Allowance i.e. HRA will be revised. According to the Seventh Pay Commission, HRA will be revised when the allowance is 50 percent or more.
