Central Railway Zone of Indian Railways has started 10 AC Local trains from 19th August. With this, the number of AC locals in Mumbai has increased to 66. The new local trains will be run by replacing the existing non-AC local.
The number of people traveling by AC local increased, this AC local train will not run on Sundays and holidays. Rest of the non-AC trains will continue to run as before. In early August, the Western Railway zone had decided to increase the number of AC locals in the Mumbai suburb in view of the increasing demand from the passengers. A railway official said that after the reduction in the fare of AC local, the number of passengers traveling by AC local has increased.
Will increase in the coming days and these trains will run between Mumbai Division’s Central Railway Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Thane Badlapur and Kalyan. On the railway side, this decision was taken in view of the increasing number of passengers in AC local. In the coming days, the number of AC locals will be increased further by the Railways.
This will be the route of 10 new AC local trains, out of 10 AC local trains, four services are Thane-CSMT-Thane (2 up, 2 down), four Badlapur-CSMT-Badlapur (2 up, 2 down) and two Kalyan-CSMT-Kalyan (1 up, 1 down). It is worth noting that at present, a total of 56 AC trains are operated by the Central Railway. Central Railway operates 1810 local trains on the Mumbai suburban network. More than 40 lakh passengers travel in these.
