ICC bans transgender women from participating in international women’s cricket

On November 21 , the ICC banned all cricketers who have any signs of male puberty . Also those who have undergone some serious surgery to become women .

The ICC announced its decision saying that it is taking this decision for the integrity and safety of women in the international women’s game . ICC issued a statement according to which the ICC Board has made gender eligibility regulations for the international game . This decision has been taken after nine months of consultation with sports stakeholders .

New policies regarding gender

Gender has always been a topic of discussion in world athletics . The new policy has been taken on the basis of certain principles . In this, special attention has been paid to protection of integrity of women’s game , safety , equality and participation of women . Any male who has converted to female or has any signs of male puberty and has undergone any surgery or is taking treatment to change gender cannot be a part of cricket . ICC has reached this decision after the board meeting held in Ahmedabad on 21 November .

Strictness regarding athletes

Why did ICC need to take this decision ? According to a source, this decision was taken after the entry of cricket in the 2028 Olympics . Because now cricket will also be an Olympic support, hence it will also have to follow the Olympic guidelines . Controversy on gender is a very important topic all over the world . The International Olympic Committee changed its regulations and came up with the rules that are most appropriate for its sport .
