Therefore, liquor cannot be brought into these states in any way through train, metro, bus or other transport facilities. Bihar, Gujarat, Lakshadweep and Nagaland are included in this. The sale, production or consumption of liquor is completely prohibited in these states. In such a situation, if a passenger takes liquor by train to a state where it is banned, then he can face jail and fine as per the laws of that state.
What are the rules in the states where there is no ban?
In the states where there is no ban on liquor, liquor can be transported in closed bottles by following the rules of the Railway Authority. However, boarding a train openly or under the influence of alcohol is against the rules and may result in punishment.
How much quantity of alcohol is allowed –
Even if a person carries alcohol in the train, its quantity cannot exceed 2 litres. The alcohol bottle should be completely sealed and cover packed. This should not be visible to anyone in any way in the train. But this is allowed only when traveling by train in a state where alcohol is not banned. If you go to a banned state with alcohol, it will be difficult. ,

Six months’ imprisonment and fine –
Section 145 of the Railway Act 1989 says that anyone is found consuming liquor or intoxicating substance anywhere in the railway premises including the train, railway platform. If any drug is found in his possession, his train ticket or railway pass will be cancelled. He may face imprisonment for six months or a fine of up to Rs 500.

What is the law in the states where there is exemption?
The Excise Act of the states also gives information about the activities of bringing or transporting liquor bottles by any means. State Excise Act: Any person can carry up to 1.5 liters of liquor with him and one bottle must be open, but he is not allowed to drink it. This will ensure that this liquor is not for sale, but for one’s own consumption. If any person carries liquor in more quantity than this, he should have permission from the excise officer.
