The stock market is open today, but will remain closed on 14th November i.e. tomorrow Tuesday on the occasion of Diwali Balipratipada. There will be no trading on BSE-NSE. There will be one more holiday in the stock market in November. According to the information given on the website of BSE, there will be a holiday in the stock market on 27th November on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti.

Generally, trading in the stock market takes place from Monday to Friday from 9:15 am to 3:30 pm, but on Sunday the stock market is open for one hour. It opens every year on Diwali, regardless of whether it falls on Sunday or Saturday. This special session is called Muhurat Trading. Trading in ‘Muhurat’ or auspicious time is believed to bring prosperity to the stakeholders.

The Hindu calendar year starts from Diwali, which is called Samvat. Market analysts say that Diwali is considered the ideal time to start anything new. Investors are said to benefit throughout the year by trading during this session.

In Muhurta trading, Sensex and Nifty closed with a gain of more than half a percent. In the first trading session of Samvat 2080, the 30-share BSE Sensex closed 354.77 points or 0.55 per cent higher at 65,259.45. NSE Nifty closed at 19,525.55, up 100.20 points or 0.52 per cent. During this period, investors’ wealth increased by more than Rs 2 lakh crore.

During the Muhurta trading session, Infosys gained the most by 1.41 percent. Apart from this, there were significant gains in Wipro, Asian Paints, TCS, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Reliance Industries, ITC, Kotak Bank and Asian Paints. Among the Sensex companies, only UltraTech Cement and Sun Pharma remained in loss.

BSE Midcap gained 0.67 percent and BSE Smallcap gained 1.14 percent. The token trading session was held between 6 pm and 7.15 pm. This session also marks the beginning of a new era.
