8th Pay Commission Latest News: Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary told the Parliament that there is no plan of the government to set up the Eighth Pay Commission for the Central Government employees.

In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, Chaudhary said that no such proposal is under consideration with the government for the formation of the Eighth Pay Commission for the Central Government employees. He was replying to a question in the House whether the government has proposed to ensure timely constitution of the Eighth Central Pay Commission for Central Government employees. So that it can be implemented on January 1, 2026.

The Minister said that in order to compensate the Central Government employees for the fall in the actual value of their salaries due to inflation, they are paid Dearness Allowance (DA) and the rate of DA every six months as amended from time to time. Is performed. Dearness Allowance is fixed according to the rate of inflation as per the All India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers released by the Labor Bureau under the Ministry of Labor and Employment.

Central government employees are eagerly waiting for the hike in DA rate in the second half of the financial year. As the inflation rates are being kept intact, the cabinet is likely to increase the DA for all central government employees and pensioners and a decision in this regard may be announced soon. DA is calculated on the basis of retail inflation which has been more than 7% for some time now.

According to reports, DA is likely to increase between 3% and 4%.

In July 2021, the Center revised the DA from 17% to 28% as per the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission. Again, the Union Cabinet approved a 3% hike in DA for employees in October 2021 with effect from July 1, 2021.

The central government decided to increase the DA by another 3% in January 2022. Currently, all government employees are getting DA at 34%. More than 50 lakh government employees and 65 lakh pensioners are getting the benefit of amendment in DA.

Significantly, the 7th Central Pay Commission was established by the government on 28 February 2014. Center creates a pay commission to revise the salary structure of government employees after 10 years.
