Weather Update: In this monsoon season, it has rained heavily in many states of the country. In many states including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, it rained so much that people had to face problems.
The Meteorological Department has told that heavy rains will continue in Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana for two more days. After this it is likely to decrease. At the same time, there is an alert of heavy to very heavy rain for three to four days in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, North Haryana, Chandigarh and West Uttar Pradesh.
Talking about the states of North West India, heavy rains are going to occur in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, Delhi and West Uttar Pradesh from July 26-29. Apart from this, there is an alert of heavy rain in East Uttar Pradesh on July 28-30, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir on July 26-28. Talking about Central India, these states will receive heavy rains from July 26-29. Heavy to very heavy rainfall warning has been issued for Vidarbha on July 26 and 27. In western India, there is a warning of heavy rain in Konkan and Goa on July 26-29, Gujarat and Marathwada on July 26 and 27.
The Meteorological Department has said that there will be heavy rains in Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, Coastal Karnataka on July 26-28, South Interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema, Interior Karnataka on July 26 and 27. Apart from this, there is an alert for heavy rains on July 26 in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala. On the other hand, talking about the states of Eastern India, there is an alert of heavy rain in Odisha on July 26-30, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim on July 26-28, Jharkhand and Bihar on July 29-30. Talking about Northeast India, a warning of heavy rain has been issued here till July 26-30.
Mumbai: Vihar and Tansa lakes in spate after heavy rains
Due to incessant rains in the city for the past several days, the Tansa and Vihar lakes were in spate after being completely filled on Wednesday. Giving this information, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said that Tansa and Vihar lakes are the major sources of potable water in Mumbai. The BMC said that out of the seven reservoirs that supply water to Mumbai, Vihar, Tansa and Tulsi lakes are in spate.
The civic body said the Vihar lake in Mumbai’s Sanjay Gandhi National Park was completely filled at 12.48 am, while the Tansa lake in Thane district was in spate at 4.35 am on Wednesday. “Tansa Lake, one of the seven lakes that supply water to Mumbaikars, was completely filled at 4.35 am today and is in spate,” the BMC tweeted. The Tulsi lake was completely filled on July 20 following heavy rains in the city and suburbs. Mumbai gets 3,800 MLD (million liters per day) of water from seven reservoirs – Bhatsa, Upper Vaitarna, Middle Vaitarna, Tansa, Modak Sagar, Vihar and Tulsi.
