Bank Holidays in May 2023: May has started. There is a bank holiday in some states on the first day of this month. Like every month, this time also there will be a holiday for banks.

This time there will be no work in banks of different areas for 14 days. This time the bank holidays have started from May 1. Banks are closed on May 1 due to Maharashtra Day. If you have any important work related to the bank this month, then you should plan from now. This time the second and fourth Saturdays are on May 13 and May 27 respectively.

Banking holidays by states and cities

Banks have a holiday on May 1, 2023 due to Maharashtra Day / May Day. Apart from this, there will be no work in banks this time on Buddha Purnima, Rabindranath Tagore’s birthday, Sikkim’s foundation day and Maharana Pratap Jayanti. Let us tell you that according to different states and cities of the country, banking holidays are different. This time there are municipal elections in Shimla and UP.

Online service banking will continue, banking operations will not be completely interrupted during bank holidays. During this, you can do your important work through online banking. If you need to go to the bank for your work, you can go before or after the holidays. Apart from this, you can do the work related to banking online by sitting at home. This service will be operational for 24 hours.

1st May (Monday) – Maharashtra Day / May Day: Bank closed in Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Bengal, Goa and Bihar.
May 2: Tuesday – Municipal elections, 2023 – Shimla
May 4: First phase of civic elections in UP.
May 5 (Friday) – Buddha Purnima: Tripura, Mizoram, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Jammu, Uttar Pradesh, Bengal, New Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh.
May 7: Bank holiday due to Sunday.
May 9 (Tuesday) – Rabindranath Tagore’s birthday: Bengal
May 11 – Second phase of municipal elections in UP.
May 13: Weekly holiday due to being the second Saturday of the month.
May 14: Bank holiday due to Sunday.
16 May (Tuesday) – Statehood Day: Sikkim
May 21: Bank holiday due to Sunday.
22 May (Monday) – Maharana Pratap Jayanti: Himachal Pradesh.
May 27: Weekly holiday due to being the fourth Saturday of the month.
May 28: Bank holiday due to Sunday.
