The Labor Bureau will release new numbers on the evening of 28 April. From these numbers it will be known that till where the figure of dearness allowance has reached. So far the dearness allowance has been increased to 44 per cent. Employees are getting 42 per cent payment. But, from July 2023, they will be paid increased dearness allowance. Meaning, the more it increases further, the more benefit you will get from July.

The next dearness allowance will now be applicable from July 1, 2023. But, the numbers of DA Hike have started coming. At present, the dearness allowance ie DA of central employees is 42%. It has been implemented from January 2023 only. It is to be paid in the April salary. Under the 7th Pay Commission, DA is revised every 6 months. Means now the revision has to be done in July. In such a situation, it will be known from the new numbers that how much dearness allowance can increase.

How much will dearness allowance increase in July?

The revision in dearness allowance is done on the basis of 6 months CPI-IW index. Means the figures of AICPI-IW that will come from January 2023 to June 2023, will decide how much dearness allowance has increased. So far the dearness allowance has reached 43.79 on the basis of index. According to the figures of inflation that came till February, 44 percent dearness allowance has been fixed. Now the CPI-IW numbers for the month of March are to come on the evening of 28 April.

By how much DA score increased?

There was no growth in dearness allowance in February 2023. The index figure had come down from 132.8 to 132.7 in February. But, there was a slight increase in the DA score. At present, the DA Hike has been 43.79 per cent. It is given in round figure. In such a situation it has increased to 44% by February. The March data will come on April 28, in which the DA score is expected to increase further. However, the CPI-IW numbers for April, May and June will also be added to it. Such a situation seems to be taking shape that the next revision in DA/DR may be of 4%.

How much will be the increase in DA?

Based on the calculation of the 7th pay commission, there may be a 4% increase in the dearness allowance applicable from July 1, 2023. According to experts, even if the index number does not change in the coming months and it remains at 132.7, there will be an increase of at least 3% in DA. However, it is impossible for the index number to remain the same. In this case DA Hike will be 45%. But, if there is a slight jump in the index, then DA Hike can be 46 percent. That means dearness allowance is expected to increase from 42 per cent to 46 per cent from July.

New data will come on April 28

The Labor Bureau of the Ministry of Labor knows the figures of AICPI-IW (All India Consumer Price Index – Industrial Workers). These numbers are issued on the last date (last working day) of every month. In this, the bureau collects data of many items from different industrial areas. Inflation is compared on the basis of this. Further calculation would have been done on the basis of this number.
