If you want to update your Aadhaar card for free, then you can easily update your Aadhaar by following some steps sitting at home without spending any money. For this, the customer will not need to go anywhere. The Unique Identification Authority of India ( UIDAI ) charges a fee of Rs 50 for every updation in the documents of the Aadhaar card holder. However, UIDAI has a special offer window running where Aadhaar card holders can update free of cost. This three-month window has started from March 15 and will run till June 14.
The UIDAI usually charges Rs 50 for making changes to the details of a subscriber linked to his 12-digit Unique Identification Number. This may be required if the customer is trying to modify details such as Proof of Identity (POI) and proof.
You have to note that the free UIDAI service can only be availed online on the MyAadhaar portal. Card holders will still have to pay a fee of Rs 50 for updating documents at physical Aadhaar centers. The move is aimed at “ease of living, better service delivery” and “increasing certification success rate”.

- First of all visit the official website of UIDAI.
- After this, go to the ‘Update Your Aadhaar’ option by going to the ‘My Aadhaar’ menu.
- Then click on the option ‘Update Demographic Data Online’.
- Proceed to update details in Aadhaar and fill the Aadhaar card number.
- After that verify the captcha and click on press ‘Send OTP’.
- Go to the ‘Update Demographic Data’ option and select the details to be updated.
- After this enter your new details and upload the scanned copy of the supporting document proof.
- Then verify whether the information entered is correct or not. Then verify with OTP.
- The application for updating of your Aadhaar card will be completed and your Aadhaar card will be updated in a few days.
