LPG Gas Cylinder: People coming under BPL and Ujjwala Yojana will get LPG Gas Cylinder for Rs.500. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, while addressing a public meeting in Malkhoda, Alwar, said, from April 1, LPG Cylinder will be available at a cheaper price. Every year Ujjwala people will get 12 cylinders at the rate of Rs.500.
Let us tell you that in May 2016, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) launched ‘Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana’ (PMUY) as a special scheme with the intention of providing clean cooking fuel like cooking gas to rural and underprivileged families.
Eligibility criteria for taking connection under Ujjwala 2.0-
– The age of the applicant should be 18 years (only female).
– There should not be any other LPG connection from any OMC in the same household.
– Adult women belonging to any of these categories – Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), Most Backward Classes (MBC), Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY), Tea and East Tea Garden Tribes, Forest Dwellers, Island and River People living in the Islands, listed under SECC households (AHL TIN) or any poor household as per 14 point declaration.
Required documents-
Know Your Customer (eKYC)- e-KYC is mandatory for Ujjwala connections (not mandatory for Assam and Meghalaya).
– Ration card issued by the State on the basis of which the application is being made, other State Government documents certifying the family composition, Self-declaration as per Annexure I (for migrant applicants).
– Aadhaar of the beneficiary and adult family members present in serial number 3 of the document.
Proof of Address – Aadhaar will be taken as proof of identity and proof of address if the connection is required at the same address. In this case, only Aadhaar is sufficient
– bank account number and IFSC.
Cash assistance for PMUY connections – Rs 1,600 for a 14.2 kg cylinder and Rs 1,150 for a 5 kg cylinder – is provided by the Government of India. This cash assistance includes-
Security deposit for cylinder – Rs 1,250 for 14.2 kg cylinder, Rs 800 for 5 kg cylinder
– Pressure regulator – Rs 150
– LPG hose – Rs 100
– Domestic gas consumer card – Rs 25
– Inspection/installation/demonstration fee – Rs 75
Apart from this, the facility of interest free loan is also provided to the PMUY beneficiaries by the Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs). The loan covers the cost of LPG stove (Rs. 565 for 1 burner stove, Rs. 990 for 2 burner stove) and the refill cost of the first LPG cylinder received at the time of connection. Applicants can apply to any distributor of their choice either by submitting the application to the distributor or by submitting the request through the online portal.
