Pan-Aadhaar Link deadline: No penalty will have to be paid on PAN card from April 1. The government has removed this tension for the time being. Now there will be no penalty for not linking PAN with Aadhaar (PAN-Aadhaar Link) for a specific reason.

Three months’ time has been given for this. In fact, the government has extended the date for PAN-Aadhaar Link last date till June 30. It means that now you will be able to link it by paying the linking fee of Rs.1000. But, the good news is that after April 1, PAN will not be inoperative if it is not linked. You have only benefited from this.

No fine of Rs 10,000 will be imposed!

The last date to link PAN card with Aadhaar is now 30 June 2023. That means your PAN card will not be inoperative till June 30. If it is not inoperative then you will be able to use PAN and Aadhaar in any financial transaction. Due to this, the penalty formula will not apply to you.

Actually, according to the previous notification of the government, there was a provision to impose fine on the user using inoperative PAN. Once used and caught, a fine of Rs 10,000 would have to be paid. At the same time, there was also a provision to seize or punish the PAN card for using it twice. But, now it has been exempted for three months.

Pan-Aadhaar can be linked by paying a fee of Rs 1000

Even if there is no PAN-Aadhaar link till June 30, it can be used in all transactions. However, it will be made inoperative from 1 July 2023. By extending the last date for PAN Aadhaar linking, the government has given a big relief to the people. However, the rule will be exactly the same as before. It will have to be linked only by paying a fee of Rs.1000. It can also be linked online, CSC center or through SMS.

What are the instructions regarding PAN-Aadhaar linking?

CBDT circular F.No. 370142/14/22-TPL dated on 30th March 2022, it is mandatory for those people who had been issued PAN card till 1 July 2017 to link Aadhaar with PAN card. For this, the date of 31 March 2022 was the last. But, after this, the government gave people permission to link till June 30, 2022, by paying a nominal fee of Rs 500.

Then between July 1, 2022 and March 31, 2023, the linkers were given permission to link by paying a fee of Rs.1000. Now it has been increased to 30 June. However, linking is still possible with a fee of Rs 1000 only. Simply your PAN will not be inoperative.

How to link PAN-Aadhaar online?

  • First of all go to https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal/.
  • Then go to the Quick Links section and click on Link Aadhaar.
  • Here a new page will open, fill the details of name, mobile number and PAN card here.
  • Then a check mark has to be made on I validate my Aadhaar Details.
  • Then click on Continue.
  • An OTP will come on the registered mobile number, enter it and click on Validate.
  • After that pay the fees. PAN-Aadhaar Link will be done as soon as the fee is paid.
